Q1. What is a web site?

A1. A web site is a series of interconnected pages that allow information to be shared with the general public. In business, this means customers can visit your site whenever they want to learn more about your company, purchase products, ask questions, and even provide feedback.


Q2. What is an IP address?

A2. An IP address–or Internet Protocol address–is a 32-bit numeric address that includes a network address identifier and a host or end station identifier. Every computer on the network has a unique IP address that allows for data, e-mail, or other files to be correctly delivered to that computer.

Q4. How can I find the IP information that is assigned to my computer/workstation?

A4. Follow the appropriate instructions for your operating system:


Windows 95/98

Press Start
Click on Run Type "winipcfg" and press Enter

Windows NT/2000

Press Start
Click on Run Type "ipconfig" and press Enter

Macintosh

Go into the Apple menu Click on Control Panel
Choose TCP/IP
The IP configuration that is assigned to your computer will be listed in this display. Windows users should make sure the proper Ethernet adapter is shown. If something other than an Ethernet adapter is listed, you should be able to choose the correct adapter from the dropdown menu. Click Refresh All. The proper IP information should then be displayed.
