Q1. What is a Domain Name?
A1. Your domain name is your address on the Internet. Your domain name is like a phone number; it identifies your site and allows people to locate you on the web.
Many domain names end with ".com" but other extensions such as ".ca," .net" and ".org" are also available. Domain names can be used in conjunction with your e-mail accounts to allow you to send and receive e-mail with addresses such as info@yourcompany.net.
Q2. If I have my own mail server, how do I customize Multimedia Web’s domain information to point to my server?
A2. You can ask us to modify your default domain settings. Just submit your request to dustins@multimediaweb.ca. It can take anywhere from two to four business days to complete.
Q3. I need more e-mail addresses. Who should I call?
A4. Simply contact Multimedia Web at (604)241-1343.
Q4. Why can I receive mail but not send?
A5. Mail services can be configured in a variety of ways and are not always tied to your Internet connectivity service provider. You should verify that you have a mail service with Multimedia Web as our outgoing (send) mail servers are only configured to send mail for our clients. It is important to note that incoming (receive) mail servers are separate and are also only configured for use by our mail clients.
Q5. Can I check my received mail from the office and at home?
A6. Many e-mail programs have an option to allow you to "Leave mail on server." You should check this in the program that you are using at both locations. When you get your mail with the program where this setting is checked, the mail is downloaded from Multimedia Web to your computer, but a copy of the message is left on the POP mail server. This enables you to check your mail from anywhere you have computer acess. Be sure to unselect this option on a regular basis to prevent you from exceeding your mailbox limit.
Q6. How can I access my mail online?
A6. You can access your mail on any computer by going to the Tech Support section of this web site to login.
